Let Us Help You Choose the Right PPE

Outfitting your personnel with high-voltage safety gear just got easier. Immersed Technologies, a premier provider of technical training solutions for the transit industry, proudly announces its role as an official distributor of Oberon Company’s innovative arc flash and electric shock protection Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including the groundbreaking escape strap.

Immersed Technologies integrates Oberon PPE into its in-person high-voltage training course, designed specifically for qualified mechanics and technicians working on zero-emission buses. The Oberon escape strap, a built-in electric shock Contact Release rescue device, is a key component of this training, ensuring participants are equipped with the best safety measures available.

The escape strap, which features a non-conductive Kevlar® escape rope sewn inside a garment, provides a practical and effective solution for rescuing workers from electric shock or arc flash incidents. A Category 2 EV Arc Flash Kit provides additional protection against electrical hazards. The kit contains an Oberon hard hat and face shield, earplugs, balaclava, coveralls with an escape strap, a Class 0 glove kit, safety glasses, and a storage bucket.

“Our partnership with Oberon Company enhances our commitment to safety and excellence in high-voltage training,” said Mike Brock, president of Immersed Technologies. “By incorporating Oberon’s state-of-the-art PPE into our training programs, we ensure that our participants are not only well-trained but also well-protected in high-risk environments.”

Immersed Technologies’ High-Voltage Awareness for Transit Essentials training program is recognized for its hands-on approach, providing mechanics with real-world experience in handling high-voltage tasks. Participants learn to measure and don PPE, inspect safety gear, set up safety barriers, and use OEM-specific service information for de-energization and near-zero voltage verification procedures.

“Our high-voltage training programs are designed to prepare mechanics for the electrical hazards they may be exposed to,” Brock continued. “The addition of Oberon’s PPE, particularly the escape strap and arc flash kit, underscores our dedication to safety and innovation in training solutions. We are excited to bring this level of protection to our trainees, helping them perform their duties confidently and securely.”

Immersed Technologies continues to lead the industry in developing comprehensive training programs that adhere to OSHA 1910 and NFPA 70E standards and guidelines. With the integration of Oberon’s cutting-edge PPE, Immersed Technologies is set to elevate the standard of high-voltage safety training for transit agencies nationwide.
